I am creating this blog in direct response to the technology fitness throwdown that has been started at my work. I do not wish to participate in this contest as I do not agree with this contest's negative reinforcement methods--especially using money as a punishment.
However, I do agree with their focus of promoting a healthier lifestyle. Though I will not participate monetarily, I am going to attempt to follow rules 1, 2, and 6:
- "1. A healthy diet plan." - I'm going to cut out Dr. Pepper and all other dark colas and try to stay away from caffeine. I do not drink coffee to begin with, but tea may be an issue. I'm going to try to stick to juices (only ones that claim to be 100% juice no sugar added), milk, and of course water.
- "2. Workout regularly (5 or more times a week ) 45 min each" - Due to scheduling conflicts, I will attempt to get at least 3 times a week, with a goal of 5 times a week.
- "6. Under no circumstances will we follow a workout plan suggested by Andrew." - included as I support comedic relief.
The others are posting a few initial things for comparison later:

- Weight: Actually, this is another reason why I want to try to push for a healthier lifestyle. My weight keeps approaching 300 lbs. -- which is an arbitrary wake-up-call amount that alerts me that I need to try harder. (It could be the Wii Balance Borard's maximum limit, as well.) Yesterday morning, I weighed in at 299.2 lbs. -- my worst ever. That might as well be 300. It's a real kick in the head.
- Quote: "Bah, I don't want in on this." (at least monetarily) But I will strive for a change in myself in competition with the changes the others are also working for.
